What is Iris Photography
Iris or eye photography involves capturing a detailed image of the eye’s iris using specialist hardware and camera gear, highlighting its intricate patterns and colours. Each iris is as unique as a fingerprint, making this form of photography a personalised piece of art that reflects individual identity.

Edit options
Unlike other iris photographers, I don’t use automation for my edits. Each edit is manually edited to ensure that not only is your iris unique, but so is the edit and any effect you choose. By all means use the below examples as a guide, but please appreciate that as I create each piece by hand, no two are going to look the same, and isn’t that the overall point?

Iris Photography Frequently Asked Questions
How much is an iris photography session?
There are two packages:
Package 1 – A5 – £30 per eye – this package includes a highly detailed, hand edited image of your eye optimised for high quality printing up to A5.
Package 2 – A4 – £40 per eye – this package includes a highly detailed, hand edited image of your eye optimised for high quality printing up to A4. It also includes either an Explosion or Infinity (requires at least 2 eyes) eye artwork also printable to A4.
Can I choose which eye is photographed?
Only the right eye is photographed at my pop-ups.
Unfortunately, due to the popularity of my events in most communities I visit, I try to allow as many people as possible to get the opportunity of securing a ticket. My session times are therefore carefully timed based on the number of people attending each session. Due to the unique setup I use and the fact that I attempt to keep my entire setup compact enough to carry on my motorcycle, my setup is optimised to capture the right eye. Whilst its totally possible to move the setup for a left eye capture, sadly this would take most of a session to move to the left and then reset to the right.
If you have a specific need for your left eye to be photographed then please do get in touch to discuss and explore any options if any. Alternatively, I do also provide home visits for a week before or after my pop-up. Home visits are not under the same tight time constraints as my pop-ups are and each participant can decide which eye they would prefer photographed.
Is there a minimum age for iris photography?
Yes, due to the need for the head and eye to be absolutely still for this type of photography, I do not accept children under 6.
Whilst I will accept children 6 and over, there are simply no guarantees of being able to capture a good image if your child is like most children and unable to sit still 😊 Please note I will not be able to issue a refund should I fail to be able to capture a suitable image of the child’s iris.
What is included in my session fee?
You will receive a classic edit of your iris as a digital image. This image is optimised to be printed to a maximum size of A4. If you would like larger digital images to print your own large images, these can be purchased additionally from my store.
If your session is for 2 or more eyes, you will receive 1 image PER eye/person PLUS an image with all irises included. Therefore, if you attend a 3 iris session, you will receive 4. images.
Special edits: For solo attendees you will also receive the Explosion edit included. For two or more people you will receive the Infinity edit included.
Do I get the clash effect?
Not within your standard ticket price. Should you want any effect edit, these can be purchased additionally to your session price. See edit examples above for prices.
For solo attendees you will receive the Explosion artwork.
For two or more people you will receive the Infinity artwork.
Do I need to remove my contact lenses?
Yes, for the best possible results its highly recommended that you remove contact lenses prior to your session. Whilst in most cases contact lenses do not impede the image of your iris, for some people it can cause a ripple effect on the eye which cannot be removed with editing (even with the help of AI, the iris is simply too intricate).
If you choose to wear contact lenses to your session you do so taking responsibility for any defects that may be present in your final image.
What are the terms and conditions?

When do I get my image?
I aim to get your digital print back to you via email delivery within 5 working days of your session date.
Can I order prints?
I no longer offer prints. I do offer digital image upgrade options should you wish to print larger prints yourself.
Is iris photography safe for my eye?
Iris photography does use flash photography therefore is not recommended for those who suffer epilepsy or other such conditions that can be triggered by flashing lights.
I endeavour to take as few shots of your eye as possible to minimise any discomfort you may feel. In my experience (I experiment on my own eye a lot) is is no worse than the light a doctor or optometrist may shine in your eye.
What happens in an iris photography photoshoot?
You can see a blog post that I wrote that will hopefully answer any questions you may have about what you can expect from your iris photography session.
Do you photograph pets eyes?
No. For hygiene and possible allergy concern reasons I do not currently offer pet iris photography sessions.

Are you a local business owner or photography studio?
Would you be able to rent out a room or even a table in your business for a day to host these pop up sessions in?
I have extensive personal and 3rd party liability insurance for the various services I provide.
Or perhaps you’d be interested in a barter in exchange for an iris photoshoot of you and your households irises.
If you are a photography studio owner with a studio of a size that would facilitate a family photoshoot (2 adults, 3 kids) that rents out your studio to external photographers on a daily or hourly rate, please could you get in touch to discuss your studio and provide a quote. Or we can discuss some online marketing in exchange 😉
Please do get in touch if you’d be willing to rent or exchange some space in your premises wherever you may ne in the UK or even abroad! I’ll map each offer of location to a map which I’ll then use to plan my routes based on the available options (or lack thereof).
Please use the contact form at the bottom of the page to get in touch with your offer of workspace 🙏
