Meet Elton
Pet care that fits your pet
I’ve had animals around me for as long as I can remember. Over the years I’ve lived with and cared for dogs from Yorkshire Terriers to Rhodesian Ridgebacks, along with cats, rats, mice, hamsters, snakes, African Grey parrots, tropical and marine fish, eels, seahorses and turtles.
So while dogs and cats may make up most of my bookings, all creatures great and small are welcome. Tell me about your animals and the care they need.
I don’t operate an agency or pass bookings between sitters. Getting to know your pets, their routines and their little peculiarities is part of the job.
01 · Out and about
Dog walking
Individual attention, at your dog’s pace.
I offer solo and same-household walks, with a maximum of three dogs from one household walked together. Walks are tailored to age, fitness, temperament and the routine your dog knows.
That might mean a brisk walk for an energetic dog, something more sedate for an older companion, or plenty of time to investigate the local lampposts.
Dog walking prices
- 30-minute walk: £12 for one dog.
- One-hour walk: £18 for one dog.
- Additional dogs from the same household: £3 each per walk, when walked together.
For two dogs, that’s £15 for 30 minutes or £21 for an hour. For three dogs, it’s £18 for 30 minutes or £24 for an hour.
Prices cover my primary service area, approximately two miles around central Bury St Edmunds / IP33. Bookings up to five miles away may be available with an additional travel charge. All charges are agreed before you confirm your booking.
What about reactive dogs?
Dogs reactive towards other dogs or environmental triggers may be considered after an initial assessment.
I do not accept people-reactive or people-aggressive dogs. Please disclose any history of biting, aggression or concerning behaviour towards people before booking.
02 · A familiar face at the door
Pet drop-in visits
Sometimes your pet doesn’t need a sitter all day — just somebody to turn up. One or several visits a day can be arranged, with the care agreed around your pet’s needs.
- Feeding and fresh water
- Toilet breaks or garden access
- Litter-tray care
- Play, enrichment and companionship
- Medication by prior agreement
- A short walk where included
- Checking your pet and home are secure before I leave
Cat sitting & cat visits
Food, water, clean litter trays, play and company in the home your cat knows. Medication can be included where agreed.
Exactly how much companionship occurs will, naturally, be decided by the cat. Lap-sitters and suspicious observers are equally welcome.
Puppy visits
Feeding, toilet breaks, play, age-appropriate exercise and company while your puppy settles into a routine.
I’m happy to reinforce your training routine after discussing it and agreeing with the methods used. If there’s no formal programme, we can agree the boundaries to maintain. This is pet care, not a professional training or behaviour service.
Holiday pet & home visits
Regular visits while you’re away, for pets that don’t need overnight supervision.
By agreement, I can also bring in post, open or close curtains, water houseplants and put bins out. These are incidental to pet care rather than a separate house-sitting service.

Drop-in visit prices
The same visit rates apply to cat care, puppy visits and holiday pet visits. Choose enough time for your pets’ routine and the tasks we agree beforehand.
- 30-minute visit: £12 — feeding, fresh water, toilet breaks or litter-tray care, with time for company and play.
- One-hour visit: £18 — more time for companionship, puppy routines, enrichment or a household with several animals.
- Two 30-minute visits in one day: £24 — ideal for morning and evening care while you’re away.
Prices are per visit, rather than per animal, provided your pets’ care can comfortably be completed within the booked time. More involved care or additional time will be quoted in advance.
Need a longer visit? If your pets need company or care for longer than an hour, get in touch with the hours and care you need and I’ll provide a quote, subject to availability.
Medication, short walks and light household tasks can be included by prior agreement, within the booked visit time.
These prices cover my primary service area, approximately two miles around central Bury St Edmunds / IP33. Bookings up to five miles away may be available with an additional travel charge. All charges are agreed before you confirm your booking.
03 · Their home, their own bed
Overnight pet sitting in Bury St Edmunds
Going away doesn’t mean your pets have to leave home too. I stay in your home, helping them maintain their familiar routine.
What’s included?
A typical overnight stay runs from approximately 7pm to 10am the following morning.
- Evening and morning feeding, fresh water and toilet breaks
- Overnight companionship and supervision
- Medication and care for other household pets where agreed
- One dog walk of up to one hour per 24-hour period, normally in the morning
An additional afternoon or evening walk can be added by agreement. Any additional drop-in visits are arranged separately; an overnight booking does not include continuous 24-hour care.
Overnight availability
Sunday 7pm
to Saturday 10am
Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday nights, subject to availability. Single-night and multi-night bookings are welcome within this window.
Friday stays end by 10am Saturday.
Saturday-night sitting is unavailable.
Exceptions where your pet/s can be left for up to 8 hours on either a Saturday or Sunday to allow me to undertake my photography duties.
Overnight sit prices start from £40 per night for single pet households. Use the contact form at the bottom of the page to get a quote based on the duration of you sit requirements and number of animals needing care.
All creatures great and small
Multi-pet & multi-species households
Dogs, cats, birds, rodents, reptiles, fish and other domestic animals can potentially be included in the same booking. Tell me what each animal needs and I’ll confirm whether I can help.
I quote for the work involved rather than simply multiplying a basic price by the number of pets.
Medication & special requirements
Medication is by prior agreement, where I’m confident I can administer it safely. I’ll need clear instructions covering dosage, timing and method.
Please disclose relevant medical conditions, separation difficulties, behavioural concerns, triggers and escape tendencies. This helps us decide whether I’m the right person to provide safe care.
Before your first booking
Let’s meet first
For new clients, I’ll normally arrange a free initial meet and greet. It’s a chance for your pets to meet me and for you to decide whether you’re comfortable trusting me with their care.
We’ll discuss routines, feeding, exercise, medication, behaviour, access and security, emergency contacts and veterinary details. A meeting will normally be required before overnight or longer sitting bookings.
